What Should You Do if a Dental Emergency Arises?

Common Dental Emergencies

1. Knocked Out Teeth

If one of your permanent adult teeth has been knocked out from trauma or other injury, the key is to salvage as much as you can of the tooth as possible and work to keep the tooth moist.

Tooth preservation kits may be purchased at your local drugstore, follow the manufacturer’s directions. If this is not available to you, then we urge you to store the tooth in a small container with either your own saliva or milk to help preserve it until a dentist is seen.

Lastly, rinse your mouth out with warm water to clean the area & then schedule an appointment as soon as you can.

2. Crowns or Fillings That Have Fallen Out

Similar to a knocked out tooth, retrieve as much of your crown or filling as possible and keep it moist to help preserve. Use a tooth preservation kit, milk, or your own saliva and place the crown inside of a container until a dentist can see you. Place a cold compress on your cheeks face to help any swelling.

3. Severe Toothaches

You may take over-the-counter medications to help with the pain, but severe toothaches should be addressed as soon as possible instead of masked by painkillers. Schedule an appointment as soon as possible.

Testimonials

★★★★★ In my opinion, Silver State Smiles is one of the best Dentist Practices in Las Vegas. Dr. Rachel Bush and her staff are the best. They treat you like family and have a genuine interest in your wellbeing. I used to hate going to the dentist because of feeling like I was just another patient. All of which, went away when I scheduled my first appointment with Dr. Bush.

★★★★★ I came to Silver State Smiles fleeing from my previous dentist, and it was the best decision. Dr. Bush was very professional and caring and listened to my concerns that were not taken into account at my previous doctor. The office was very clean and orderly and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and you can tell they take not only dental hygiene seriously but cleanliness in general as a big priority.
